Problematical Animals is Mulhollen's most dense, dynamic and professional-sounding record to date, which says a lot for his musicianship: he wrote, played and programmed almost every single instrument. Don’t be fooled; Joseph’s laid down a solid musical structure, but nothing takes away from his soaring and powerful vocals. All in all, his sound is focused but still covers lots of ground, straddling a perfect blend of acoustic instruments & electronic sounds.
